Candidate for Winnsboro City Alderman

Brenda Morey

About Me

My name is Brenda Morey, and I am excited to announce that I’m running for re-election for the position of Alderperson on the Winnsboro City Council in the May 3, 2025 election.

As a native Texan who has made Winnsboro my home since 2009, I have grown to love our vibrant community. My journey brought me to this beautiful small town when my husband and I purchased a ranch. Though I experienced a profound loss when he passed away in 2020, my love for this community motivated me to sell the ranch in 2021 and find a new home within the city limits.

In my professional life, I work as a senior tax preparer and office manager at H&R Block here in Winnsboro, a role that has equipped me with valuable skills in financial management. I believe that sound fiscal oversight is crucial for our city, and I would commit to ensuring that your tax dollars are spent wisely.

Community involvement is one of my passions. I have volunteered extensively at the Winnsboro Resource Center/Food Pantry, Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital, and the Winnsboro Center for the Arts. My roles as treasurer and board member for the Resource Center and the Center for the Arts further allowed me to gain insights into the vital needs of our community. I currently serve on the board of directors for the Resource Center and Doc’s Senior Center, where I continue to advocate for those who rely on our services.

Why am I running for City Council?

So, why am I running for City Council? I deeply believe in the importance of listening to the voices of our residents. As your City Council Member, I will be dedicated to being accessible and responsive to your concerns and ideas.
Winnsboro is poised for growth, but it is essential that we preserve our small-town charm. I envision a community where we support local businesses, attract new ones, and create job opportunities that will contribute to our economy. The growth in our business sector will provide us with the resources needed for essential projects, such as improved road repairs and infrastructure.

Did you know that Winnsboro is recognized as “a destination city”? Visitors from the Metroplex and beyond come to explore our designated "Cultural Arts" and "Main Street" city, enjoying our thriving Art Center, live performances, and countless classes. Our children showcase their talents in summer drama camps, and our rich array of restaurants, antique shops, and specialty stores make our downtown vibrant.

I take great pride in our city and would be honored to serve as your Alderperson. We need a City Council member who is not only financially savvy but also committed to the welfare of everyone who lives, works, and visits Winnsboro.

I humbly ask for your support and your vote on May 3rd.

Sincerely,
Brenda Morey
