Candidate for Winnsboro City Alderman
About Me
I'm Jim Hollowell. I moved to Winnsboro from Bryan, TX with my wife, Marilyn, 18 years ago. We came to this area for employment at Pilgrims’s Pride and loved the community life we experienced while visiting here. We became members of the Winnsboro Reformed Church and I soon became involved with community theater at the Winnsboro Center for the Arts.
Within a few years we opened Art & Espresso Coffee Shop which Marilyn ran while I continued working. The shop quickly became a gathering place and we became heavily involved with the other merchants of Winnsboro, learning their needs and the needs of their customers and visitors to our town. In 2014 I ran for, and was elected to, the Winnsboro City Council to become a voice in city government for those ideals. I have served on the council since that time – almost ten years now.
Why am I running for City Council?
I believe a city leader needs to be involved in city activities, both in attending events and in listening to the people and the merchants. Winnsboro has a unique history and culture and city government has an obligation to preserve that tradition and to oversee the inevitable growth that towns in our area will experience, insuring that it is planned growth and controlled economic development that fills the needs of our town.
Your support at the polls on May 4th will enable me to continue working for you and for Winnsboro.
