Incumbent Candidate for Winnsboro City Alderman

Stephen Boorman

About Me

My name is Stephen Boorman, and I have been that disruptive and outspoken conservative City Councilman working hard for you for the last two years. Having lived in Winnsboro for more than 27 years, I have been here long enough to understand both what it's like to be a outsider and eventually an established resident, maybe even what some might consider an old timer.

I was born in Fort Worth and started working for the family business at age 13 and stayed with the company for almost two decades. My majors in college started with architecture, then business, and ultimately psychology. At Rice University, I was introduced to computers and programming languages. My interest in this field continued when the personal computer became a thing in the very early ‘80’s. I ventured into my own software and consulting business in 1983 which ultimately became quite successful and now, as Rubicon Software Group, Inc., is developing applications for Fortune ranked companies.

The entire Boorman clan migrated to Winnsboro in 1997. Within a few months I was managing a local IT company. When the owner was forced to declare bankruptcy, Network Technologies rose from the ashes. I was warned that Network Technologies would never survive in Winnsboro, but after 28 years, the company is now an icon in the community.
For the past 29 years, my wife Bonnie and I have loved living in Winnsboro and think the move here was among the smartest things we ever did. I now realize that we came "home." It is the people who attract others to our town, and we love our Winnsboro family! It is the experiences with people that are remembered and treasured.

Why am I running for another term on the Winnsboro City Council?

When we moved here in 1997 the city was much different than it is today. The town was built around families that had lived here for many generations. Residents who don't plant roots here will use Winnsboro, then move on to greener pastures. For people to build roots, they need better jobs. Winnsboro needs to attract the kind of people who will live here generationally and not monthly. We need better employment opportunities that will engender stable families rather than those looking at working in Winnsboro as a steppingstone on the way to better futures. Winnsboro should be that better future.

This brings me to the core of my re-election campaign; I want to continue to represent the interests of existing Winnsboro business but work to attract new companies and the people who create and own those companies. I recognize that new employers are the only answer to better job opportunities and a better future for Winnsboro. We need to create an environment that draws in the entrepreneurs that make opportunity growth possible while keeping the charm of a small Texas town. It can be done and is being done all over Texas. I fiercely want to make Winnsboro a competitor in what is sure to be a renaissance for the state of Texas. Please help re-elect me, Stephen Boorman, to the position of alderman on the Winnsboro City Council, and thanks to all of you for being such a great family.
